If you don’t know why we have seasons, here’s a great article on the explanation. It’s also notable that astrologically, each change comes about as the Sun ingresses a Cardinal Sign of the Tropical Zodiac, i.e. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Some assume our planet’s changing distance from the sun causes the change in the seasons. That’s logical, but not the case, for Earth.

      • I’m actually starting to think about planting my fall garden, but it’s still in the 90s…. I’ll probably put out my autumn salad ingredients in 3-4 weeks.

      • By this time of year it’s hard for me to get enthusiastic about gardening, even though it would probably be the best time to do so.

      • I do, too, but more so in the spring. At this point I’m sick of yardwork generally. Best garden I’ve had was planted in February, harvested by late May, including tomatoes. But some Februarys are too cold or I’m too lazy. LOL.

      • I like planting one garden in October and another in late January…. if I procrastinate in January, all I get is dead plants. Peas, cabbage, broccoli, etc all love cooler weather.

      • I remember that from Utah. If this drought is truly over I’ll need to invest in some raised beds. Ground here is ridiculously rocky and the soil too well-drained. At least now I have a fence to keep the deer away from anything I grow. One year I found a fawn sleeping in the cabbage. It was cute but bad news for the garden.

      • Our ground is nearly pure sand. We’ve had occasions during tropical storms when we’d get 3 inches of rain in a day, but the ground acts live a sieve, so I can see the value of raised beds.
